What is This?

This is a new scene type plugin that is a modified version of the existing Topdown 2D scene type included with GB Studio.  The plugin implements a delay after changing player direction, with sustained input needed before the player moves into a tile. This type of movement is inspired by classic RPGs featured on both the original Gameboy and Gameboy Color, such as Dragon Quest and Pokemon.

When designing RPGs where moving onto a new tile could trigger a battle, and player movement needs to be careful and strategic, this feature is necessary.  Additionally, this plugin could be used in a puzzle game where the player must push blocks in a specific way to complete a level.

How do I use it?

It's packaged as a new scene type plugin, so it won't overwrite the existing Topdown 2D scene type.  Just change your scene type to Topdown 2D RPG Movement.  There's also a new option available within GB Studio's settings under the heading "Topdown 2D RPG Movement" that will allow you to adjust the delay however you like.

The demo included above will give you a quick peek at how the new movement type looks and feels.

Special thanks to MxAshlynn for feedback and testing!

How can i install this plugin?

I extracted the engine folder inside the plugins-folder of the prject but i can't choose the new sceene-type in GB-Studio. Can anyone help me???

The engine folder needs to be inside a folder (for example - "Topdown 2D RPG Movement") in the plugins folder of your project.
